William, The following are prohibited:
✘ Rifles with a capacity over 10 rounds.
✘ Semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine and have any TWO of the following
features:
1. Folding stock (Not including telescoping [collapsible] stock)
2. Grenade launcher or flare launcher
3. Flash suppressor
AR rifles not otherwise prohibited (see above) must possess a heavy-barrel contour
.
If you are purchasing an AR, it must have a heavy contour barrel. Any other rifle must meet the above requirements. So as long as you are not purchasing an AR, it should be fairly easy to determine if it is prohibited.
If you are unsure if the firearm is banned, contact the Maryland Regulated Firearms Dealer you are utilizing for your purchase.
If a firearm is not on the MD firearms list, that doesn't mean it is banned, just that it has not been reviewed.
.
The above requirements are for semi-auto rifles. If you are purchasing a bolt action, the only restriction is 10 round limit.
If you are unsure, call the FFL where you plan to have the gun shipped and ask.
