it does not have a manual safety it does have a transfer bar safety so it is safe to carry with 5 rounds of ammo due to its light weight it is a handfull with 357 but in a high stress situation you will never notice the increased recoil over the 38 special

Hi Maurice, this has a transfer bar safety. With an unloaded weight of 20 ozs., the Defender 605 is relatively lightweight for a .357 Mag, so you are going to feel the recoil when shooting .357
