  • I am looking to purchase the Springfield Armory 1911-A1 TRP .45 ACP 5" 7+1 Black G10 Grips, *CA Compliant* . My question is that I really like the look of the wood grips and was wondering if you can change them. I have also heard that if you do change them, it is no longer CA compliant. Lemmi know. Thanks

  • Hi Ken, if you are asking will Bud's change the grips, no. Bud's does not alter any firearms. They are sold as they come from the manufacturer. You should be able to change the grips yourself without changing the legality of the gun. According to California law, it's illegal to modify a handgun in any way that would make it more dangerous, more difficult to track, or more difficult to identify. Modifications that are deemed unsafe or that significantly alter the firearm's appearance or function are also prohibited. Changing the grips does none of these.

  • Hi Ken and welcome. The Grips can be changed without issue. A grip change does not change the State compliance factor, even in California. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
