  • Good evening,
I live in Texas and I'm planning to order a firearm from Bud's. I've been looking online but I can't find a straight answer to my question.
My question is this: Do I have to pay a sales tax when I receive the firearm at the FFL?
    Thank you

  • In most states no you do not some states now have laws where a FFL holder will collect state sales tax. In 90% of the cases you do not pay sales tax but I would call the FFL holder that you are going to use and ask him

  • Prior to moving to Tennessee late this year I lived in the Dallas area for over a decade. I have made multiple purchases from Bud's for both handguns and rifles while living there. Bud's does not charge sales tax for guns sold in to individuals living in Texas nor does the receiving Texas FFL charge sales on the gun or the FFL transfer fee.

  • Yes here in CA if the seller doesn’t charge sales tax during the initial purchase our FFLs do.

  • You do not in Texas. My brother in Killeen does not have to pay sales tax (at least through his FFL. The transfer fee should be it. Some FFL's may try to milk you so I would give em a ring beforehand just to verify with them.

  • Hi Ed, This is a question for your FFL. I know here in Ca they do charge sales tax where most states don't.
