Hi Charles, no sir, this is NOT CA legal. The classification of a 'firearm' has nothing to do with CA law.
Prohibited - Pistol-grip firearms expelling a shotgun shell that are 26” or longer in overall length, but with smooth-bore barrels shorter than 18” in length are not being transferred by California FFLs. Regardless whether pump-action or semi-automatic, this category includes the Mossberg Shockwave, Remington Tac-14, Emperor Arms Duke / Mogul series, Charles Daly Honcho, RIA VRF14 and the like.
