when I received the gun the barrel is stamped .308 only. did Buds ship the wrong gun or should I disregard.

no the did not you can shoot 7.62 x51 nato rounds through a .308 because the nato rounds are the lower pressure of the 2 it will be fine with the 7.62 NATO rounds
