Yes, the ammo is compatible between the two. I got the bug for the 6.8 SPC. Didn't want to modify my .223 AR so I built one on a Savage action. EVERYBODY talked about the 6.8 SPC II being the "only way to go" and NOTHING else would work. ::)
Went with the standard 6.8 SPC with the shorter throat (rather than the SPC II) so I could jam my bullets into the lands.
Works like a champ and no issues. 5 shots, from the bench at 100 yards in the - 1/2" range. Started off shooting 90 grain bullets and will go heavier as the throat wears.
