Can I own the smith and wesson. 22 rifle in Maryland. I Brought the 5.56 and had to return it because of the barrel. Is the .22 rifle the same thing?

Hi Tracy, yes the M&P 15-22 is not considered a AR rifle, so it does not need the heavy barrel. It is MD compliant.
It even states on the S&W web site that this is MD compliant.
