If you didn't field strip, clean and Lube out of the box, Then do that. Many folks don't clean a New firearm when it should be cleaned/Lubed.

Hi Ethan and welcome. It should not be. I would disassemble the firearm, clean and lube the bolt carrier group, bcg rails, charging handle rail indents and retry. If it works, fine.
