  • Is it common to "carry hot" with weapons that use the trigger safety system instead of the good ol manual safety?

  • Wassup TC. Yes, among informed carriers and professionals: Many law enforcement officers, security personnel, and civilian carriers who train regularly carry hot on a daily basis with trigger safety pistols, relying on proper holster use and safety discipline. Also, proper holster selection (covering the trigger guard), safe handling, and training are crucial.
Hope this helps Bud. Please take care and stay safe!

  • It's very common to carry a striker fired pistol with one in the chamber. Glock, Walther, etc all have this capability. No physical safety so to speak. Modern holsters help to ensure that a gun does not fire accidentally when carrying a pistol with one in the chamber. Plus firearm safety courses teach us to not put our finger on the trigger until we are ready to fire.

  • Hi Terrence, modern weapons have so many internal safety features that prevent the accidental discharge of the gun that you just put yourself at risk by not carrying hot. The time it takes to rack could be the difference between life & death. Modern handguns are not designed to be carried unloaded.
Stay safe & have a great day!

  • Good evening to you!! Why wouldn't you? You can't say time out and load your gun in a gun fight. Hope this helps. Have a good rest of your day.

  • As long as you are confident and comfortable, absolutely. I've carried a Glock for 25 years they only have a trigger safety with no issues

  • 💯% yes!!!!
    Speed and Reaction Time:
Having a round chambered eliminates the need to rack the slide (a manual action to load the first round) when drawing the firearm, allowing for a faster response in a potentially lethal encounter.
    Simplicity under Stress:
In high-stress situations, the fewer steps needed to deploy a firearm, the better. Racking the slide under pressure can be difficult and lead to malfunctions according to a firearms instructor on YouTube.

  • yes that is the standard way to carry a striker fired firearm (like Glock) with a trigger safety. that is why training and trigger awareness is so important

  • Hi Terrence and welcome. Yes Sir it is. Most folks carry with a quality holster that completely covers and protects the trigger until the firearm is drawn for use. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
