Is it possible to mount a dot sight on a post 2020 Python, and if so can it be done without modifying the revolver beyond removing the rear sight? If a mount is available, who makes it, and where can I buy it?

Good morning to you!! Colt's Manufacturing LLC offers a steel mounting plate designed specifically for current production Pythons and Anacondas (2020 and newer models). This plate replaces the existing adjustable target rear sight and utilizes its pin and screw hole for installation. It is compatible with popular red dot optics featuring the Shield RMSc and Holosun 507K footprints. These plates retail for approximately $79.
Aftermarket Mounts (e.g., EGW):
Companies like Evolution Gun Works (EGW) also produce red dot mounts for the post-2020 Colt Python. These mounts typically replace the rear sight and are designed to accommodate various red dot footprints like Trijicon RMR/SRO/Holosun 407C/507C, or Vortex Viper/Venom/Burris FastFire.
Installation:
The installation process generally involves:
Removing the existing adjustable target rear sight.
Installing the chosen mounting plate or mount in its place, utilizing the existing screw holes and pin location.
Attaching the red dot sight to the mount.
These solutions are reversible, allowing the original rear sight to be reinstalled if desired. While installation can be done by a user, it is recommended to have a qualified gunsmith perform the installation for optimal results and to ensure proper fitment.
Where to Buy:
Colt's official mounting plates can be purchased directly from Colt's Manufacturing LLC or through authorized Colt dealers.
Aftermarket mounts like those from EGW can be found on their respective company websites.
