They have since fixed the issue, as far as the ammo, it really depends on what you are wanting to do. I actually keep the 410 Winchester Defender in my 45 LC.

Winchester Western or USA Ready: Often have good ignition qualities.
Handloads: If you reload, using a load with a standard or slightly reduced powder charge and a reliable primer can improve ignition.
