  • Can you purchase a firearm for someone else as long as they’re present at transfer and do all their own paperwork?

  • yes it is legal (some FFLs will not di it ) however it is much easier to get them a gift card and have it ordered in their name

  • In a word, no. The buyer has to perform the full transaction.

  • Hi Eddie, technically the answer is yes. If the intended recipient is present during the transaction and completes all necessary paperwork, they are considered the "actual buyer." This means you can pay for the firearm, but the recipient must fill out the required forms. This is not a straw purchase. It is no different than a husband and wife walking into a gun store where the husband buys a gun and the wife pays for it with her credit card. As long as the person who does the paperwork is the actual owner of the gun, it os ok.
Just to be sure, call your FFL and ask if they will allow it. Some FFL's are overly cautious.
Stay safe & have a great day!

  • Good evening to you!! Sorry but no. Person who buys the gun at Bud's and has the gun shipped to them must be who fills out the paperwork. The way you want to do it can be taken as a straw purchase. Hope this helps. Have a good rest of your weekend.

  • No. Give them a Buds gift card and have them order their own firearm.

  • Hi Eddie and welcome. Unfortunately, no. The account of the purchaser would make them the intended owner. You could get a Buds Gift Card and have the person open their own account and purchase to alleviate the illusion of a straw purchase. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy! budsgunshop.com/search.php/type/buds+gift+cards
