Hornady's Flex Tips are a 325gr pointed bullet seated in a shortened case (shorter than a .45 Colt, longer than a .45 S&W) that is still a bit longer and may not feed properly in a length critical rifle such as the 1873. Since rifle specs and tolerances can vary rifle to rifle, you would have to test a box to verify function in your rifle.

Hi Robert, Most of the flex tip ammo won't work with this model. It makes the round a little too long to cycle like your friend stated.

It works fine with some guns not as well with others I suggest buying a box and trying before buying them in Bulk
