Robert, The 1911 R-1 is a Series 80 gun. --- The series 80 firearms feature an additional firing pin block within the slide which requires the trigger to be fully depressed in order for the hammer to transfer its energy to the firing pin in order to make the gun fire. This serves as a safeguard to prevent accidental or negligent discharges.
