  • The Colt Competition is a step up from the regular Colts in features and accuracy with marginally better finish. It utilizes the Colt Dual Spring Recoil System for reduced recoil for faster follow-up shots and extend recoil spring life. It also features an upswept beaver tail grip safety and an undercut trigger guard to keep the pistol seated low in the hand for improved control. All in all it is a very good purchase for the money and in my opinion, a worthy pistol to own given the price point compared to some higher end pistol makers.

  • Colt 1911s are good guns good fit ,finish and the retain their value but they are a mid grade 1911 in the colt price range I prefer STI or Dan Wesson guns

  • The Springfield Range Officer is the same price and a better pistol. The Colts I've had the opportunity to work on and shoot were not as accurate or well fit as the Range Officer. One had barrel alignment problems from improper lockup (primer strikes were off center). Another had an oversized hole in the frame for the slide catch which meant we had to fit a special oversize diameter slide catch. My friend John has one of each in 9mm he shoots in USPSA competition and he does much better with the RO. The sights on the Colt are not as user friendly either. Get the Springfield.
