This would be my first firearm purchase. If I put it on layaway do I get my back round check first? Or till after it’s paid in full? Also will the shop I chose contact upon arrival?

Jose, depending on where you live, the normal process is the put the firearm on layaway (you select a local FFL dealer for shipment during this process) - pay off the layaway and your firearm is shipped to your local selected FFL - once received, your FFL contacts you and you go in to do the paperwork/background check - once that's done, if you are approved, you walk out with your firearm.
