  • Will a16” barrel with 1/8 twist and 18” barrel with 1/9 twist shoot the same wt bullet basically the same . The bullet should make 2 revolutions before it leaves the barrel right ?

  • Either twist rate, Ralph, will be just fine for general range practice and plinking. The only time twist rates might become critical would be in long distance shooting, where absolute stabilization of bullets would be imperative to maintaining accuracy. You'll be fine with general purpose 55 gr ammo up to 68 or 75 even at the medium distance ranges where most of us shoot. , I guarantee you - learning and applying good basic shooting fundamentals will do more for your accuracy than pretty much anything else could ever do.

  • Ralph, they will be close but the "Faster Twist" barrel will most always be able to stabilize heavier bullet weights. There is a little more that factors in like "Faster" twist rate which imparts more spin that can stabilize heavier weight bullets despite the number of turns before the bullet leaves the barrel.
