Frank - Some guns state that during 'break in', on should clean the barrel after every shot up to 25 rounds, then every three shots ..etc. In general, it's like James and Trevor both stated. My rule has always been .. clean it at a minimum whenever I felt I could not be confident it would go "bang" every time I pulled the trigger. Cleaning your firearm is just part of the process of getting to know and appreciate it, and I consider it to be part of the "pride of ownership". You take care of it, and it will take care of you. There is no set number of rounds.
Frank, I happen to own 4 EAA 10mm Pistols including the 5" and 6" 17rd 1911's. Your ? will depend entirely on the ammunition you are using whether it is cleaner burning or dirtier burning. I had no issues through 500rds on each but, that was my cleaning cycle for each. Since two identical pistols can have different characteristics, and unless the person is using the exact same ammunition you would be using in the same environment, your question is nearly impossible to answer.

Frank, that is a difficult question to answer due to the large variety of 10mm ammo brands and loadings as well as the many potential causes for malfunctions. For a quality gun I would expect this number to be in excess of several thousand but there are many variables in play. I would expect failures to feed to start as the chamber and feed ramp become fouled, failures to eject as the extractor and the area under it containing the spring get dirty, and potentially failures to fire originating from a severely clogged up firing pin channel.
