Yes it is a 1911 it is just in a different caliber the original 1911 was made in 45 acp and through out the years other calibers were added. I have this gun and it is a great example of a 1911 and a lot of fun in 40 S&W I sent mine back to RIA and the added a 10 mm barrel and spring setup so I can shoot either by changing the barrel and recoil spring
