What kind of external safety does this rifle have?
lever position prevent firing unless lever is closed. transfer bar requires trigger to be pulled and the exposed hammer can be lowered to uncock the gun
Jason - These have a firing pin transfer bar to prevent firing if dropped. Also, the Hammer serves as a safety. One can 'thumb it down' slowly, after loading a shell in the chamber, then thumb it back when ready to fire. And if the lever isn't fully 'closed' the gun wil not fire.
The Henry only has a firing pin transfer bar. They also require the lever to be fully closed to fire.

Henry .45-70 Government Lever Action Rifle
Jason, there are 3 safeties - "Transfer Bar", "Lever Position" and Manual hammer drop by holding the hammer with your thumb, pulling the trigger and slowly lowering the hammer (which decocks the trigger mechanism),
