I have that rifle. The hogue stock, and weight, make it the softest shooting bolt .308 I've owned. So much so, my 12yo stick-thin son learned to shoot with it, and is is now his hunting rifle. If you have shoulder issues, get this rifle and use managed/light recoil ammo with it. I was disabled because of neck and shoulder injuries and ended up hunting with a 243 with a muzzle brake for a couple years. It had very little recoil.

It will likely feel like a 12ga with 2&3/4 shells.

This is a bolt action so recoil will be substantial. You can look at a "semi-auto: for less recoil since some of the recoil energy is recirculated to chamber the next round. If you need a bolt action 308 you can have it equipped with a recoil dampening muzzle brake.

Brutal I'm sure. I had a lung removed recently and have the same problem.
