Either sights are fine unless you plan to shoot a lot at night or in the dark. Then you want Night Sights that glow in the dark. I use no nightnsights myself and never missed a target by more then 10ft. That's a joke by the way about 10ft, but for me, my iron sights or lasers work just fine for me. Night sights a cool option, but you only need them in the dark. And in the dark I get the shotgun and thing never misses.
Much easier to see in low light conditions. Example: google.com/search?biw=1280&bih=620&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=night+sights+vs+no+night+sights&oq=night+sights+vs+no+night+sights&gs_l=psy-ab.3...94050.94833.0.97973.2.2.0.0.0.0.99.170.2.2.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0.JtCEPcTX51g#imgrc=au2qsjBe1lEnUM:
Night sights usually have a tritium insert in the front sight and often the rear sight too. They glow a vivid green in low light and darkness. They give you a distinct advantage in low light and I highly recommend them. Second best are fiber optic. They are easy to line up in bright and modestly low light, but don't do much in total darkness. Regular white dot or notch sights work well in light. Target sights are usually black, with tighter notches, and are more adjustable, but not so quick for target aquisition. For self defense, that is my order of preference.

Night sights let you shoot very badly defined targets (the Border Patrol here had an incident a few years back where they shot each other) so you may want to use a light with fiber optic sights so you do not shoot something you wish you hadn't.
