  • I'm assuming "factory new" pertains to a firearm that will arrive in a sealed box that hasn't been opened since being at the manufacturer. Can this "factory new" classification ever include firearms that are open on display / demo firearms that have been handled by customers at the counter in the physical store? Is this ever the case?

  • factory new is a gun that has never been sold the guns that Buds sells through the online sight have never been opened. Most manufacturers do not seal the boxes. the gun may or may not be wrapped in a plastic bag with preservative. many FFL holders will open the box upon receiving it and log the gun in their records log

  • John, Factory new means it is brand new, not refurbished, reconditioned, used, etc. It most likely will have been fired at least once at the factory to insure it functions properly (quality control test). The box most likely will have been opened at Bud's to verify serial numbers as Federal laws are very particular about the proper serialization and tracking of firearms. It also means that everything that the factory put into the box/case (manual, lock, magazine(s), and so forth) are still there and nothing has been removed. I have purchased several new guns from Bud's over the years and have never had an issue with the guns or factory included accessories.

  • Yes, more than anything..."factory new" means the gun hasn't been previously sold/transferred. It can be considered factory new if it was on display in a store.

  • John, Buds says this is the case Sir. I would inform your FFL if they would wait until you are onsite before opening your firearm just in case. Either way, a thorough inspection before filling out paperwork taking delivery is highly recommended to prevent any potential issues.
