  • What is the thread Tap(s), "2 of them" for the iron site mounting holes and the scope base mounting holes on a Traditions Vortek Strikerfire LDR muzzleloader?

  • 99% of scope mount bases will either be #8-40tpi, or #6-48tpi, the other 1% would be "metric".

  • Drill size for tap is #29 for 8-40 tap. That's 75% cut. Use tap magic and go slow. If it get snug, back out, clean tap continue. Small threads you only get one shot. Be tedious.

  • If you mean #2 threads, they are 56TPI UNC thread form and the recommended drilling size is 1.85mm. Sutton tools has #2 taps available in spiral flute.
