Yes hollow points should run fine in your carbine.
Hollow points in 9mm tend to cost a bit more then ball ammo, bit hollow points are alot more effective as defensive rounds, id run 1 full box of hollow points through your carbine just to make sure they function reliably and group well, then practice, with standard FMJ, lower cost ammo will get you more reps (shots) in practice and more practice is going to make you more proficient. Then leave the magazines loaded with hollow points when not headed to the range, incase a home defense scenario should arise
