looking for a low maintenance gun for my mother so she doesnt have to wipe it down with rem oil every time is that the case with this does it need wiped down each time or is it okay to handle and put back

Yes this is very low maintenance. If she doesn't shoot alot at the range it probably wouldn't need to be cleaned for years

No, the slide finish will hold just fine. If anything you should oil just the slide "Contact/friction" points (Rail Guides).
