  • So I purchased a Glock 19 that is a 10+1 magazine type of gun from Buds. Also took the recommendation of buying hollow points from it after doing research here on the website of Q and A. I don’t like guns at all. I’m a fishing fan more than a gun fan. But with smash and grabs right by my house in Lakewood California. It’s leading to home invasions. How easy is it for the Glock 19 in the hands of a person who never held a gun before. I’m planning to take classes as well. Thank you

  • I'd definitely recommend classes and going to the range a good bit. When a home invasion happens you're scared, adrenaline's pumping and even skilled marksmen can make errors. Going into a home invasion never having held a gun you're probably more likely to shoot yourself, someone else or completely miss than actually stop the threat. I'd take a class or two, and go to the range. If you can't go to the range make sure the firearm is empty and practice at home. Dry fire the weapon alot, and practice the steps you would take in case of an invasion. If you would hide it in a drawer, practice taking it out of the drawer and being ready to fire. I've seen many of people who didn't like firearms go to the range and practice and actually start to like firearms. Best advice I can give is practice alot. Hope this helps.

  • Brandon, classes are a vital first step to becoming as proficient as possible in operation and deployment. We live in uncertain times but training will bring about a sense of certainty and confidence that you may be low on now. I would also look into home wireless security systems as well. I would also suggest a good home defense carbine or shotgun as a supplement to your handgun. Cheers, stay informed, prepare and you will be just fine. Cheers and stay safe!
