They are well-made, functional 1911's. Upgrading sights is one of the first things I'd look into but that's not uncommon with gi-style 1911s. Overall a good value for adding a 1911 to your collection.

Tony, rock island armory makes great 1911s. I own two one in 9mm and one in 45 acp and both have been nothing but great. They're accurate, extremely reliable, and all around great pistols. They're probably the best budget 1911 you can find. I'd definitely recommend them to people. Hope this helps.
