Everyone has their own idea of what the best is. I suggest looking at product reviews from people who have purchased whatever firearms you're interested in. Check out the different forums on AR's and even go to the range and talk to the shooters there. And yes, you can maybe save some $$$$ building your own AR. Just be judicious in your work. After all, it is a firearm. Close enough to a proper assembly isn't good enough. I'm just saying that some people have no business whatsoever building a firearm.

Bud's has lowered their price on a DPMS 308. That is the cheapest I have found. I have been looking for one, but haven't bought yet. I think I will purchase it on lay-away. I have a DPMS AR15, and I love it and it eats up every brand of bullet I put in it,

Be careful building an AR 10 style rifle as everything doesn't fit together the same from different brands. If your looking for economical I would get pieces from PSA (blew lowers). May take a little time watching for parts but would save a lot of money vs an off the shelf rifle.

My best answer is to build one yourself as for brand that depends on the user but building one on your own will save you a few hundred dollars and if you don't know how YouTube is loaded with videos
