BudsGunShop.com - What maintenance to perform after 200 rounds
-

I recently bought a brand-new HK MP5 chambered for .22 LR and shot 200 rounds with it on its first range outing. I heard .22 LR is particularly dirty and 200 rounds seems significant, what's the recommended aftercare I should give it if at all?

Hi Michael, I normally fire 200 or so rounds, clean and lube and repeat with different 22LR ammunition. This allows me to both, find what 22lr ammo is most accurate and which is cleaner burning. I then stock up on what performs best in my firearm according to my bullet needs and use. In between shooting session maintenance consists of a cleaning, lube and inspection after each shooting session wraps up is a solid maintenance strategy. Cheers and stay safe!
