  • can I shoot 00buck or slugs after the factory choke is removed where it would not compromise the threads inside the muzzle or can you suggest a cylinder bore choke to protect the threads?

  • Rocky, no, you should never shoot anything with the choke removed or you will risk damaging the threads. The 590S comes with a cylinder bore choke installed, which is fine for slugs and buckshot. The “Improved Cylinder” choke tube will usually produce the best accuracy with most slugs >>> budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/46302/mossberg+accu+choke+12ga+i+c ......Have a great day!

  • Rocky, no, if you shoot it with any type of ammo without the choke tube it'll damage the choke threads. Mossberg uses accuchokes and your best option would be to purchase a improved cylinder choke wich will have the best accuracy. Buds has some in stock and ready to ship. Here's a link to the one you need if interested............... budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/46302/mossberg+accu+choke+12ga+i+c

  • Hi Rocky, not recommended by Mossberg so I would not. That said, the Federal loads with Flite-Control shot cup and Hornady loads with the Versa-tite shot cup cover the shot until it is out of the barrel before it disengages with the shot several yards from the muzzle. Cheers and stay safe!

  • No from page 28 Mossberg 590 owners manual "Never fire this firearm without a choke tube properly installed. Failure to
do so will damage the precision threads on the inside of the barrel. Firing
this firearm with loose choke tubes may lead to damage to the choke tube
and barrel, as well as serious personal injury."
