Jim, the ATI ALPHA-15 is 5.56 so you can safely fire both 223 and 5.56 out of it. hope this helps.

As mentioned below, the barrel is marked 5.56. Like a lower marked 5.56 you'll be able to shoot .223 through it also.

Jim, the ATI Alpha-15 is stamped 5.56, so it will fire both 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. Have a great day!
