  • Once I purchase a firearm and choose my local FFL do I need to contact them to let them know they will be receiving a firearm?

  • Matthew, it's not required but I'd recommend it. Buds adds your phone number to the package so they know who to contact once delivered. I always contact them so there's no surprises like the FFL taking a vacation or anything but again up to you. Hope this helps.

  • Hi and welcome Matthew. Buds sends all of your contact information and usually 100% of the time, the selected FFL Dealer will contact you no issue. I contact my local FFL just out of courtesy to alert them I have a package incoming. Cheers and stay safe!

  • It's not necessary but, I always do just because I like to give my FFL a heads up. Plus I'm always stopping in there, it's like the local hangout for us enthusiasts. As Edward C. pointed out, if you're using a home based FFL then definitely contact them for the reasons Edward gave. Also, If it's an FFL you've never used then yes, I'd for sure give them a call to find out if they'll call you when it arrives or if they'll want you to call to check, their store hours & how much they'll charge for the transfer fee.
    Good Luck!!

  • Hi Matthew, it is not required, but is is always a good idea to call your FFL before you order, especially if you have not done business with them before. It will give them a heads up that you have a gun coming and you can verify if the transfer fee listed is accurate. In the case of home based FFL's, some do it as a second income and have odd hours/days, and if they are away on vacation, your gun will be sitting there until they return. These are a few of the reasons to contact the FFL before the gun is shipped. Also, I always forward the email from Bud's with the tracking number to my FFL, he appreciates that. Stay safe & have a great day!
