if a rifle is shipped to Ma, will I have to pay MA sales tax on the purchase price?

It depends probably not in most states. You will not pay any taxes to buds but I know some states have the FFL holder collect sales taxes

You may want to call your local FFL and ask them. I know here in Ca we now have to pay taxes on firearm purchases.
