  • I own the Chiappa M9 Tactical 40S&W with 4.92 barrel. I went to a local gun shop and tried a Standard Beretta 96 Magazine and it did NOT fit. It was to wide, I have seen people say that the 6 mag fits, not sure what mag they were using but the 96 mag I tried didn't fit. Would not slide in the mag chamber. Any suggestions?

  • Almost an exact clone of the Beretta but not as expensive. This will fit only the Mec-Gars MagazineS ....--budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/54265/Mec-Gar+MGPB9615+Beretta+96+Magazine+15RD+40S%26W+Anti-Friction VIDEO---youtube.com/watch?v=ngL3U7AEqsQ

  • The same thing can be done with Sig 226 9mm mags loaded with .40. I've seen or two more rounds could be loaded above 10 rounds (using 15-rounder 9mm mags).
I can see that using a magazine designated for a certain caliber with another caliber may be questionable if not illegal (like Glock with calibers on the back of the mag.) But in regards to 226 mags, a lot of the older ones are not designated for a specific caliber. So what happens then? Who's to say they weren't constructed for a .40, or that they were made specfically for 9mm only. I'm assuming a lot of 92 mags would have the same flexibility in regards to use with the 96.
As for the lip/width issue, on a 226 and 229 at least, I've never seen a FTF yet with hundreds of rounds of .40 with a "9mm" mag. Rapid fire, double-taps, you name it, no problems whatsoever. No alteration of the mag was required in any way.
