  • At the gun store last weekend and the brace law and SBR rules rules came up with the guy at counter and he told the brace law was no longer in effect. Is that true and if so does it mean a SBR no longer requires a tax stamp? Thank you

  • Hi Mark, the brace law is no longer in effect. What this means is a pistol brace does not turn your pistol into a SBR, so no tax stamp required. You still can not put a stock on it, that would turn it into a SBR, nothing has changed there.
    Brace - OK
    Stock - Not OK

  • A pistol can have a brace without becoming a SBR a stock would make the pistol a SBR requiring NFA tax stamp

  • Hi Mark and welcome. No Sir, it means that adding a Brace to a less than 16-inch barrel firearm still classifies it as a Handgun Pistol. SBR laws are still in effect with Should Stocks on less than 16-inch barreled firearms. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
