The aluminum frames are just fine. An additional maker of 3" 1911s is Springfield Armory. They are a great company with excellent warranty and customer service.

No the aluminum frame 1911's do not wear fast they are well built and work great. There are really no negatives to the aluminum but then again it is all in personal preference and opinion. as far as The major difference is steel and aluminum frames the main difference is weight. The aluminum frames are made light for conceal carry. Colt would be your best bet, but as for other brands I would check kimber, ruger, and desert eagle as well. Hope this helps.
