  • What's the difference between S&W M&P Shield 45ACP Double action vs striker fired? There is no hammer on either gun.

  • the terms single action and double action really don't fit striker fired guns, Some striker fired have the firing pin partially retracted to a middle or in the ready position. The trigger pulls the firing pin back the rest of the way and releases it to fire the gun. the cycling of the gun returns it to that middle position article https://loadoutroom.com/thearmsguide/how-it-works-striker-fired-pistols/

  • Hi Chris, Most striker fired pistols, particularly Glocks, cannot be de-cocked. In the M&P designs, the cycling of the slide fully loads the striker. The trigger is not used or designed to add any additional significant striker spring compression. It performs no function of any double action mechanism. All M&P pistols are DAO (Double Action Only) , although I can see why some folks believe otherwise, since the pre-set striker is only pushed back a short distance during the trigger press and there's no second strike provision. I'm fairly certain that all M&P revolvers are DAO, also.
