Ruger Security 9 17 round magazine

I recently bought a Sec. 9 with 2 15 round magazines. The grip is too short for my hand so I bought 2 used 17 round magazines at a local pawn shop. They did not work in my gun however they appear to be identical to the 17 round mags I bought from Buds except they do not have the spacer. I removed the spacer from the new mags (I got from Buds) and put them on the pawn shop mags but no luck. Does anyone know any reason why they will not work? Thank you in advance.

I bought the Trijicon RM04 as well as a Trijicon RMRcc pistol adaptor plate but neither seems compatible with my P365XL weapon. I checked YouTube and the demonstrators are unscrewing the rear sights from the bottom of the slide but that doesn’t seem applicable to my handgun. There are no holes on the bottom and the rear sights aren’t within the cut. Why was I sold an adaptor plate that doesn’t fit the slide?
