I have a Newton Arms barrel on a 1903 Springfield rifle and wondered if the barrel was made in Buffalo during the first itineration of the company. It reads " Newton Arms Co Inc Buffalo, N Y". how can I tell if it wasn't produced from the 2nd or 3rd inceptions after the 1st bankruptcy

As far as I can tell, this gun should be legal in DC? Accord to the DC laws, only "Colt AR-15 series" guns are specifically banned, as well as: "A semiautomatic, rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (aa) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (bb) A thumbhole stock; (cc) A folding or telescoping stock; (dd) A grenade launcher or flare launcher; (ee) A flash suppressor; or (ff) A forward pistol grip;"

Can this rifle be purchased with a straight magazine. They had a round (circular magazine) that was difficult to load. If they can be ordered with the straight magazine, could that mag have a thumbnail pulldown, which would make it easy to load?
